Chomsky?s remarks about democracy made you understand how important is to defend it. As he mentioned before, democracy has always been debated and attacked for the ones in power because it is the only defense that the majority of people have. It is incredible how people are constantly manipulated to accept ideas that are only beneficial for the privileged, as he used the example of Bush?s tax cuts for the wealthiest Americans. Although he explained that our society was originally designed to maintain elites? concentration of power, I think it is the time to make changes. As future journalists, we cannot allow media corporations to deteriorate our profession and corrupt our jobs.

This interview with Noam Chomsky really sets your mind in motion- his historical evidence provides the grounding for his thesis, that democracy is in a great threat to Corporate Power. The matter is now in our hands, as the citizens of the United States- what is our nation really made of? In this age of incredible emphasis on financial success, can we focus on the preservation of our democracy even if it may threaten the power of US corporations?
